

Dongmen Police Station Cultural Base

The original Dongmen Police Station in Chiayi City was a wooden building constructed during the Japanese colonial period, known as the “Dongmen Police Station of the Chiayi Police Bureau.
” Within its premises were the chief’s dormitory, police officers’ dormitory. It is currently the only surviving police facility from the Japanese colonial era in Chiayi City and is located at the site of one of the Eight Ancient Landscapes of Jhuluo, the “Reflection of Ten Thousand Mountains.” This location tethers to the cultural and historical heritage of Chiayi.
Tōmonchō 1923 will showcase a brand-new type of cultural hub, integrating literature and artistic exhibitions and performances, traditional and modern ideologies, artisans’ and artists’ expressions, and diverse forms of experiences.
